Welcome to the
Oregon Plant Atlas

The Oregon Plant Atlas is an on-line resource for displaying distributions of plants growing without cultivation in Oregon. The Atlas creates maps "on the fly" from data maintained by the Oregon Flora Project and the Oregon State University Herbarium. The taxonomy reflected in this version is based on the proposed Vascular Plant Checklist. Changes to plant names that result from the Checklist review process will be presented in an upcoming version of the Atlas. This version also displays the distribution map for a single taxon specified in the calling URL.

NOTES:
  1. The Atlas is a Java applet. As such, it works on various platforms. However, at the present time, the Atlas is known to work best on Windows. Mac and Unix users should expect minor text layout and clipping problems in Atlas forms. Safari users may experience several problems with the Map Results Window. First, location dots may be misplaced on maps the first time a given basemap is displayed. To correct the problem, exit the map and create the map a second time. Second, clicking on location dots may not work. This problem arises from dots being drawn too large by Java. To resolve the problem, click in the upper left portion of the dots.
  2. This version of the Atlas has Copy buttons in certain windows that provide clipboard (i.e. copy/paste) support. If you wish to use the Copy buttons, click here to learn how to activate them.
